Home Care staff treats Aides on Appreciation Day
Sunny days like this past Wednesday are made for car washes, and that’s exactly what Home Care administrative staff did for their Home Care Aides.
It was HCA annual Appreciation Day, and the staff invited Aides to drive over to the Columbia City offices to get their vehicles scrubbed shiny new again.
“Hey, we do this once a year, but these people do their jobs every day,” said HCER Manager Rae Kirumbi. “Some people can work from home. But not Home Care Aides. They’ve been going out to clients’ homes just as they always have — taking precautions, and still delivering the care we’re committed to giving to our clients.
“So, we want them to know we appreciate that!”
Rae and his colleagues turned the Columbia City parking lot into a car wash production line. Home Care Aides were scheduled to avoid traffic jams, and vehicles were lined up for a good soaking, soaping and rinse down.
Aides were also presented with goodie tote bags filled with everything from snacks to Personal Protective Equipment they need for their jobs, like gloves and masks.
And everyone got a special Home Care Aide Appreciation Day Car Wash T-shirt.
“I appreciate you all appreciating caregivers today,” Aide Felecia Corbin said later. “Thank you for washing my car and the sack of supplies!”
The event even drew participation from Full Life leadership. Executive Director David Richart was on hand, scrubbing wheels. Other members of the executive team who picked up brushes included Human Resources Manager Ganna Yegiazarova, VP Finance Joe Plouf, Outreach Manager Timothy Stephens, Advancement Director Bev Falgione; and from Full Life affiliate Transforming Age; VP of People Karen Brandt and VP Community Development Kim Loveall Price.
