Why do I have home care? I’m a mess! I take it day by day. You are never promised another day.

But I have Carmen. She’s been my caregiver for the past 2 years and 1 month. We hit it off well. She cleans, helps me bathe, does dishes and laundry. She helps with my medications. She cooks and she’s a companion.

We have a good working relationship. Before I was miserable. I’d get frustrated when I couldn’t do anything, like get in and out of the car, or get my meds on time. She takes very good care of me.

I also have Lucy, my cat. She’s an emotional service animal. She’s 7 years old. Wherever I go, she goes. She has a vest and a harness. Lucy was trained from a kitten. An old caseworker hooked me up with her. Lucy picked me, I didn’t pick her. I was going by and she put her paw out and grabbed my shirt. She wouldn’t let go.
