Full Life Care’s Executive Director Dave Budd resigned from his position, effective June 4, 2019. Dave had been with the agency for nearly 24 years, serving the majority of that time as assistant director. In early 2018, Dave stepped into the executive director role following the retirement of longtime executive director Nora Gibson. Dave always kept Full Life’s not-for-profit mission at the center of his work.

Scott Slater, Full Life Care’s chief financial officer, agreed to serve as acting executive director, effective the same date. Scott joined Full Life in 2015 as CFO, overseeing all financial aspects of the agency in addition to the Information Systems and Human Resources departments. He has proven to be a strong leader and trusted colleague.

Previously, Scott served as CFO of the SEIU Training Partnership and Health Benefits Trust, which provides services to more than 40,000 home care aides in Washington state. Scott also had worked in Global Fund Administration at BlackRock, and in public accounting at KPMG. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, and holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Washington.

This executive transition brings opportunity for comprehensive evaluation and agencywide renewal. Since its inception 40 years ago, Full Life Care has served vulnerable adults in the community. Over the past 10 years, Full Life has expanded services considerably and grown in complexity while maintaining a lean structure. The agency boasts a unique combination of complex programs yet continues to operate by standards designed for a smaller, simpler organization. Full Life has financial and operating deficits that must be addressed to provide a successful future.

In the coming weeks and months as acting executive director, Scott will work closely with Full Life Care’s leadership, Board of Directors and Advisory Board members to evaluate every facet and develop a plan aimed at providing overall stability.

Full Life Care’s mission—to enhance the quality of life for frail elders and people with chronic or terminal illnesses and disabilities—remains its utmost guide.
